Where is this training being held?

Frameworks Yoga believes that space matters. We’ve designed the program to feel beautiful and promote contemplative learning.

Our weekend sessions will be conducted at Illume (formerly Exhale Yoga), an intelligently designed space overlooking the Boulevard of the Allies in downtown Pittsburgh. Exhale is well-equipped with everything you’ll need to practice and and learn.

Our summer intensive is hosted by the Falk Laboratory School in North Oakland. Falk instills a sense of education and wonder and also provides outdoor space and an opportunity for the karma yoga portion of the retreat.

I don’t feel like I learned much in my 200-hour training. Am I ready for this?

Frameworks Yoga 300 does assume a solid foundation of Sanskrit, anatomy and movement. That’s why we’re offering all of our Frameworks Yoga 200 online study materials to the 300-hour enrollees when we receive your deposit. You’ll be able to catch yourself up in no time. The online study materials will be available by November 1.

Could we meet and discuss this?

We have one last Meet and Greet at Illume on January 21. Come practice and let’s talk! Click here for details.

If you can’t make it, schedule a chat and we’ll schedule a time to answer all your questions.

What is happening during the intensive?

The intensive is going to be run like a retreat in order to cultivate meditation and concentration skills, and so core aspects of the training program have momentum throughout our time together. We’ll be meditating every morning, practicing and participating in 30 minutes of karma yoga a day.

What is the cost?

Full tuition: $3450
Discounted tuition if paid by January 31, 2018: $3150

$750 non-refundable deposit reserves your spot and unlocks your online training materials.

Until March 2 (the first day of training), tuition is refundable less your deposit and a $150 service and processing fee.

Full tuition due by March 2 when you receive the manual. After receiving the manual, tuition is non-refundable.

What style of yoga is this?

Frameworks Yoga philosophy can be applied to any style. We have designed our core concepts to allow any teacher to transmit what is important to them with safety, grace and intelligence. If style is the art of yoga, our method is the engineering of it.

How much experience do I need?

At least one year of consistent practice is required. Teaching yoga previously is helpful but not needed.

Can I take this program if I’m injured? If I’m pregnant?

We encourage anybody passionate about teaching yoga to attend. The individual expression of the mental and physical practice should be celebrated by all.

What if I can’t make a weekend?

Face-to-face time is of primary importance, and we’ve designed our program to make it fit into everyone’s schedule as best as we can.

The entire program will be recorded (audio or video). If a trainee misses a portion of the training, they need to review the material, practice any sequence on their own, and write a report to confirm understanding of the material. This applies for trainees who miss up to 24 hours.

For hours beyond 24, the trainee has the additional requirement of making up hours through private sessions, which is $90 per hour. Beyond 24 hours, every three hours of absence needs to be made up with 1 hour of private session. This will be required to graduate.

What are the requirements to graduate? How is it assessed?

In addition to completing the contact hours, trainees will need to do the following to graduate:

  • Design three sequences using Frameworks 300 techniques to demonstrate proficiency in sequencing.
  • Submit a video leading a 60 minute yoga sequence to demonstrate proficiency in communication, adjustments, modifications and prop use.
  • Complete a written test to demonstrate proficiency in study materials.
  • Create and teach an 8-10 hour yoga program and teach it as part of your karma yoga practice (volunteerism). This can be guided by your advocacy interests.

You’ll be provided with guidance and feedback so you can complete these requirements with confidence and accuracy.

Do I have to buy the manual or other books?

The manual is included in the cost of the training. Frameworks 300 requires you to have the following books (any edition):

  • Atlas of Human Anatomy by Frank H. Netter
  • Anatomy Trains by Thomas W. Myers
  • Light on Yoga by BKS Iyengar

These are reference books you’ll return to throughout your study and career.

We will also have an extensive “recommended reading” list, but please don’t feel the need to buy all of these. Many are available at the Carnegie Library and we’re going to organize a group book-borrowing so the knowledge can spread without costing a lot.

What do I do about parking downtown?

On Fridays, street parking is free and sometimes available after the parking restriction ends at 6pm. You can also park in the Wood Allies garage any time at their night/weekend rate of $6. Carpooling, cycling and public transportation use is encouraged. We’ll set up a carpool spreadsheet to see what is possible.

Aside from the attendance hours, what else is required of me during the year?

A consistent self-practice is essential to embody the teachings and to strengthen both your practice and learning.

We will review the entire manual in class and there are recommended readings throughout the year. This will be included on the syllabus and sent with email reminders before each session.

Do I need a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certificate to attend Frameworks 300?

You don’t. Yoga Alliance is fine with yoga teachers earning a 300-hour before a 200-hour training. They have requirements regarding how you register with them, but it wouldn’t affect your ability to use Frameworks programs as training hours.
